[Software] Amiga-native Subversion port

Beitrag von amifrog »

Olsen hat auf Sourceforge einen Amiga-Port von Subversion bereitgestellt zum Testen.

https://sourceforge.net/projects/amiga-subversion-port/
Self-contained port of the subversion client, admin and server software for the Amiga, which only needs GCC and the clib2 runtime library. It builds both for AmigaOS 3.x and AmigaOS 4.0.

This Amiga port is specially adapted to the needs of the Amiga and will retain file system metadata (protection bits, group/owner information and comment text) peculiar to the Amiga.

If you have been using the Amiga-native subversion 1.1.4 client for a while, you may have noticed that it is of limited use today. Many, if not all the subversion repositories you can access through it have switched to modern security certificates, and the old software could not handle them robustly.

As part of the work in making Amiga operating system development a bit easier than it is today, people such as myself are trying to modernize the development tools. The subversion software is one of these tools. Thanks to Costel Mincea, who had researched and implemented the necessary changes for the software to support AmiSSL V4, everything came together much more quickly than one could have hoped for!

The updated version, which is available from the newly-created project page at https://sourceforge.net/projects/amiga-subversion-port/ is spanking new and needs some gentle testing, to see whether it does what it's supposed to :)

As with previous releases which were available through Aminet, for example, this beta test archive contains both the AmigaOS 3.x and 4.x versions.

The project's source code is available on the project page, too, in (of course) a subversion repository ;)
